Hilde De Weerdt is broadly interested in Chinese political culture and intellectual history, comparative history, and the digital humanities. She is the author of Competition over Content: Negotiating Standards for the Civil Service Examinations in Imperial China (1127-1276) (2007) and co-editor of Knowledge and Text Production in an Age of Print--China, Tenth-Fourteenth Centuries (2011). A new book titled Information, Territory, and Networks: The Crisis and Maintenance of Empire in Song China is forthcoming from the Harvard University Asia Center. She led the UK part of the project prior to her move to Leiden University and continues on as the project coordinator.
